The Divine Tea
Our probiotic tea is made through a fermentation process involving green tea, honey, and a SCOBY. A SCOBY is defined as a “symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast” and is the vessel used to chemically alter carbohydrates like sugar or starch into alcohol or acid.
The Process
Green tea and honey are fermented in a glass jar with an open top covered with a cloth to allow for oxidization. After fermenting, the liquid is transferred to another glass container where it is infused with a flavoring, typically a type of fruit.
-
Yes! Scoby should be refrigerated at all times. If not, the liquid will continue to ferment inside the bottle, altering its state. Scoby should not be unrefrigerated for more than a day.
-
Refrigerated, Scoby can last up to 6 months. Due to the acidity inside of the drink from the fermentation, Scoby is built to resist mold and bad bacteria, thus increasing its shelf life.
-
Yes! Due to the good bacteria from the raw honey and from the Scoby, the “mother” culture provides your gut with healthy bacteria to feed its microbiome and allow your body to function at its best!
-
Scoby contains roughly 100 calories, 7g carbs, 10g of sugar, and NO added sugar included. We believe in transparency and the pureness of the drink we create for our community, which is why we are proud to provide a drink that is light, low in calories, and bold in flavor.
